Project background and outcomes:

“The Chairs” is an outdoor gathering space and furniture design project.  This space earned a winning spot in Playable Art DC, a national competition hosted by the DC Commission on the Arts and Humanities.  Play Art DC was funded by a grant from ArtPlace America to create playable art. “The Chairs” was inspired by Anacostia’s beloved historical landmark, The Big Chair.  This sculptural seating encourages fun and friendly interaction, supports ongoing community gatherings, and provides a space for young people to be seen and heard on the plaza at Anacostia Library in Washington, DC.
